Why Advertise With Us:Do you want to do business with the people of Caversham, North Reading, South Oxon and beyond? Advertise with us. It makes sense. Whoever you are and wherever you're based, if the people who visit this site are your target audience, then we offer a good, low-cost way of getting known. We have been around since the mid 90s. We update regularly and there's a regular Twitter stream too. This is a professionally hosted and maintained site with all the reliability that suggests. As a result, we have a wide readership and a high placing in all the major search engines. Look for anything to do with 'Caversham' and you'll find us at or near the top in Google and the other major search engines. We're there in Wikipedia, and we're in lots of people's bookmarks too. We've even overheard people praising the site on the bus!  Readership And Traffic:The direct feedback we get (correspondence) suggests a good variety of site visitors - mainly from our target region but with a few from further afield, from across the whole spectrum of age and affluence. We can't really be any more scientific than that - we don't like the idea of attempting to closely track and profile our visitors, it's an invasion of privacy. Site traffic varies a bit depending on the time of year - some holidays periods are, as you'd expect, more quiet. We average 6-8,000 visitors a month. (Figure last updated: March 2012.) REMEMBER: these are visitors actively looking for information about the area, including local businesses. These are not just general visitors to an untargetted site.
Costs:This is a free site and we're not out to make our fortunes from it. Adverts and other support helps cover our costs, that's all. We prefer to keep charges low so smaller businesses can get their message across. We think the local community is important. We charge £15.00 per calendar month (£18 inc VAT), with a minimum advertising time of six months (£90.00 / £108). Advertisers booking for 12 months receive one free month - 12 for the price of 11. (£165.00 / £198) All payments must be made in advance, or can be made by monthly Standing Order to help spread the cost. Payment is handled on behalf of the Caversham web site by our web company Siserone Ltd. Advertising Formats:We accept industry standard banner adverts (468 x 60 pixels at 72dpi), jpg or gif format. These should be static images, NOT animations (see below). All standard adverts are served on all pages on a random basis: which advert is served will vary (or not) each time that page is loaded. Non Standard Adverts:We are happy to consider non-standard adverts - be they different sizes, for placing on specific pages within the main copy area or whatever. We will quote according to what's required, if it's possible. Animations:Sorry, but we do NOT carry animated, flashing, moving or otherwise annoying adverts. |
 No Banner?This isn't a problem. You can use one of our free, off-the-peg templates - what could be simpler? Alternatively, if you need help to create a banner advert unique to you, contact us and we can usually sort something out. No Web Site?This isn't a problem either. You don't need a web site to advertise with us. Your banner advert will link to our 'Business Supporters' page, where we provide visitors with your contact details and a description too. Links to your web site and your email address are optional. Alternatively, in the past we have at times created 'mini web sites' for local businesses that do not have their own web site to link to and we are happy to do this. Business / Charity Mentions:Throughout this site businesses and charities / not for profit organisations are mentioned and sometimes linked-to. These mentions are not to be confused with advertising. All such mentions are solely at the discretion of the site editors (and free of charge). Charity / Not For Profit Mentions We are happy to receive suggestions for write-ups about and requests for links to charity / not for profit organisations etc. Whether we act on such suggestions and requests is solely at the discretion of the editors and normally hinges on how relevant we feel the request will be to our readership. Business Mentions No mention of any business of any sort that's to be found on this web site (shop, pub, restaurant or anything else) has been requested by the business owner. All such mentions are solely at the instigation of the site editors or contributors. This is important - it ensures the site's comments and views are independent and that in turn means visitors come back.
