We receive a large number of emails from people around the world (New Zealand, Vancouver, Bognor Regis) enquiring about ancestors who lived in Caversham or Emmer Green. However, we are not experts on these things and we only refer enquiries on to Reading Library.

So, please feel free to cut out the middle man (us) and contact Reading Library and their experts on family history directly - they are very knowledgable and helpful as well.

An important footnote - although Caversham (lamentably) has belonged to Reading and Berkshire since 1911, Reading Library has access to the Oxfordshire local authority records prior to that date. In practice, this means that the Library acts as a one-stop shop for your family history enquries.
