Book in in advance by calling 0118 972 3167 Saturday, 17th MarchThere's a performance of Haydn's 'The Creation' at the Concert Hall in Reading at 7.30pm, with Henley Choral Society's charismatic GRAMMY-nominated young Musical Director Will Dawes bringing together Southern Sinfonia, the leading chamber orchestra in the South of England, and three outstanding soloists – Sophie Bevan, Soprano, Ben Hulett, Tenor, and Giles Underwood, Bass - for what promises to be a marvellous performance. According to 'Caversham Bridge', the FCCG 'are delighted to welcome historian Rupert Willoughby, author of Life in Medieval England and Reading and its Contribution to World Culture. A most accomplished and entertaining speaker, Rupert will talk about the history of Caversham and its links with Reading'. Sunday, April 22ndThe 6th annual 'On Your Bike' friendly family charity bike ride through the Chiltern Countryside takes place, starting at 10.30am from Sonning Common Primary School, Grove Road, RG4 9RJ. There are 6, 12 and 20 mile marshalled routes or a supervised playground cycle. Also, new for this Olympic year - 'On Your Feet' - 2 treasure hunts (1 and 3 miles) round Sonning Common Village. Register for either or both online. Ride entries are £5 pp in advance or £7 pp on the day. Walk entries are £3 pp (or half price if you are also entering the bike ride). All those entering the bike ride before Thursday March 29th will be entered into a free prize draw to win a bike donated by AW Cycles in the Henley Road, Caversham. |
