A Third Bridge
Probably the longest-running issue for Reading/Caversham, this one goes on and on and, indeed, on.
Reading Council enjoys a cross-party consensus on the need for a third bridge across the Thames in or near Reading and Wokingham Borough Council also argues in favour - but seldom do the two councils do anything in any kind of sensible tandem. There are also the councils of Oxfordshire to contend with and here things really run into the sand.
Of course, even if all the councils and councillors in all the surrounding boroughs, towns and counties all agreed wholeheartedly about what to do, there would remain the question of money.
